We are back with another instalment of our Meet The Maker series and today we are getting to know Josie Fay! She is behind the wonderful leather accessories you may have seen us sharing over on our socials. Continue reading to learn all about her and her brand!
1. Who are you?
Josie Fay Haslam, owner of Josie Fay
2. Where are you based?
Cornwall, England
3. What do you do?
I do everything here at Josie Fay, designing, making, marketing and more!
4. How and when did it all start?
I started Josie Fay around 5 years ago. After studying fashion design at Leeds University, I started working for a womenswear brand, mainly focusing on pattern cutting. I found that I warmed towards accessories more than garments and decided to try and make myself a leather satchel. Not one to start small, I dived straight in, making a navy blue satchel with cream stitching, all done by hand. With cream stitching on navy leather, there was no room for any dodgy stitching! Lots of people admired my bag and Josie fay grew from there. It started as a side project and has flourished into my full time job. I still really, really love seeing people using and loving my pieces, it makes my heart sing.
5. Who is your favourite British musician/band to listen to whilst working?
I love listening to James Bay but pop throwbacks like the Spice Girls are sometimes needed to keep me going on a Friday afternoon!
6. What is your favourite British film?
I love the King’s Speech
7. Where is your favourite place to visit in the UK?
Wow this is a hard one, I absolutely love Chatsworth House and really miss it now I have moved to Cornwall, although we have some gorgeous stately homes down here like Lanhydrock.
8.Thinking of British fiction, which fictional place would you most like to visit?
Downton Abbey!
